4 Reasons Why You Should Never Drink RO Water

4 Reasons Why You Should Never Drink RO Water

In today’s time no household seem to be unequipped with RO water purifiers. From long Reverse Osmosis water purifiers are considered as best solution to the unfiltered municipality or tanker source of water supply. The water in your tap from these sources had a high chance of being full of invisible and dangerous substances including bacteria, viruses and cysts; having dissolved impurities such as fluoride, arsenic and lead, and salts & minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium as well. And so, RO Water purifiers seemed to be the right choice.

The Reverse Osmosis technique makes untreated water such as saltwater, flow through a semipermeable membrane and carbon filters. This leads to the water flow through the filter but with all the other invisible substances left behind. Thus, what remains is the water free from bacteria and minerals to be consumed by us and our families.

Although it may seem to be brilliant solution, there is are still big downside of this reverse osmosis water that we consume. Here are four of the big ones which might lead you to think again before having your next glass of RO water.

No way to differentiate between the good and the bad.

The reverse osmosis process consists of a membrane that actually lets the untreated water flow through it but stops the other substances from passing by with it. Surely this means that harmful contaminants are being removed but so are the minerals like iron and manganese which are very much required by our bodies to perform well.

Cooking with reverse osmosis water isn’t a good idea.

Water has a property of bonding with everything. The demineralized water such as the RO water, reduces the elements of vitamins and minerals to be found in the whole food when it is used to cook food. Up to 60 to 70 percent of the manganese in the food is used up by the RO filtered water used for its preparation.

It is more wastage than usage.

The Reverse Osmosis filters used in our homes run on static and not much high-powered electricity. In opposition to the huge industrial- size systems, there is not much pressure in these home placed RO water purifier mechanisms. Roughly about 85 percent of the water is seemed to have been wasted to produce 15 percent of drinking water. With water shortage uprising, this leads to be a rather inefficient system rather than a healthy and pure one.

Body requirements can’t all be met with food.

Ideally the food should be something which makes us all good to go but the truth is, it doesn’t fulfil the purpose as it is supposes to. Almost 10 percent of women are iron deficient leading to increased chances of anaemia. Whereas a body with manganese deficiency can throw the whole of it out of whack due to lack of mineral balance. So, having reverse osmosis processed water can actually aid in higher risk of deficiencies of vitamins and minerals in the body.

Moreover, the recent reports of the World Health Organization states its concerns over the fact that much focus and attention has been given on the process of how to filter-out contaminants, without thorough thought and examination over what actually happens once people like us start drinking such demineralised water for long.
